Boat of the week by Freddie de Vere. Director of Bates Wharf Southern Ltd based at our Sovereign Harbour office in Eastbourne. Having been at the helm for 25 years, Freddie has a wide range of knowledge in all aspects of boat sales. His other passions are yacht racing and sea fishing (but he doesn’t catch much!)

From the manufacturer:

With its 4-seat forward lounge, large walkways and protective pulpits, the Barracuda 9 delivers both safety and comfort. Her panelled freeboards promise comfort during fishing trips, while a starboard side access gate makes drawing alongside and climbing aboard easier. With the latest Airstep® hull, the Barracuda 9 is as comfortable to live aboard as it is easy to handle. Powered by two engines delivering up to 500 hp, two fuel tanks are available (400 or 600 litres). You can confidently put out to sea with up to 10 people on board (Category B6/C10).

1: Two separate dedicated fishing/socialising areas:

A full walk around bow section of deck, complete with seating, rod holders & cup holders, as well as the large cockpit area gives all on board ample space to fish or socialise, in comfort and safety.

2: Maximum engine certification:

Air step hull technology from Beneteau as well as a horse power rating up to 500hp gives this model some real power if required. Happily cruises at around 27 knots but open her up and she will hit 40 knots with control and stability…..

3: Starboard side access gate:

Beneteau have built a gate into the side of the hull giving easy access from the starboard helm position and wheelhouse door. Perfect for mooring up alongside especially if a little short handed…

4: Folding cockpit bench seats.

A spacious cockpit is essential for your fishing freedom but with the selection of folding cockpit seating you can create a lovely comfortable area for dining or just having a cuppa!

5: Interior accommodation and space.

Described as the “SUV of the Sea”, not only does this boat have great outdoor features but also has great space and accommodation. Sleeps four, separate toilet compartment, galley area for making “that cuppa”, cleverly stored table and adjustable seating ,makes this a hassle free weekend cruiser/fisher.
