David de Vere 1942-2025

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of David De Vere, co-founder and guiding light of Bates Wharf Marine Sales, who passed away on Wednesday 4th June 2025.

David was not only a stalwart of the marine industry with years at numerous boat shows worldwide, but also the heart and soul behind the Bates Wharf legacy. As our Director, a mentor, and a true gentleman, his influence shaped our business and inspired countless individuals across the boating world. His passion for life, unwavering integrity, and dedication to excellence remain embedded in the very fabric of our company.

David’s legacy lives on through his son, Freddie De Vere, and the extended Bates Wharf family — a reflection of the values, determination and kindness that defined him.

To the entire De Vere family, we extend our deepest and most heartfelt condolences. David was loved, respected, and will be profoundly missed — but never forgotten.

May he rest in peace.
