Destination Guide: The Thames

Based just past Chertsey Lock on the River Thames is our Chertsey head office. We have our beautifully proportioned marina here offering 100 berths and all the facilities you would expect. Whether you have purchased a boat from us or have your boat in the marina, here you can see our top destinations from the marina.

Towards OXFORD

Coming out of our marina and turning left takes you under Chertsey bridge and into Chertsey Lock. Past the lock you will pass through lots of greenery, fishermen passing their day and others enjoying the towpath walks and grassland.

1-2 hours each way

Staines-Upon-Thames offers moorings either side of the river just before the bridge. Offering a pub to the left hand side and easy town access to the right, you will be spoilt for choice on where to grab a refreshment or a light bite.

At Penton Hook Marina, there is toilet pump out and fuel.

2-3 HOURS EACH WAY

Further on, the National Trust Runnymede Magna Carta is visible. This is a meadowland alongside the River Thames and is notable for its association with the sealing of Magna Carta and has a memorial to match.

The Magna Carta was a charter of rights agreed to by King John of England in 1215 at this meadowland hence its name now.

This “Great Charter” established the law that everyone is subject to the law (even the King), guarantees rights, the right to justice and the right to a fair trial.

Stacked with history and heritage, mooring up near Windsor and exploring the town is a fantastic trip.

HENLEY – 6-8 HOURS EACH WAY

Offering beautiful meadowland, riverside views and of course the prestigious Henley Festival, this part of river has so much to offer!

Henley Festival is a boutique cultural experience which takes place over five days, celebrating the best of international and UK music, art, food and comedy at a quintessentially British location.
