DON’T FORGET TO WINTERISE!

With the chill factor already starting to set in, don’t forget to winterise your boat this coming season.

The freezing temperatures during the winter months can cause damage to your boat. Cracked engine blocks, broken fittings, seized pumps and a host of other issues. These are potentially very expensive to fix. We offer a range of winterisation options; the cost of each service will vary according to engine size. However, it’s worth considering that the cost of winterisation and a service together is less than the cost of a regular service!

WHAT OPTIONS ARE AVAILABLE

Silver: Winterisation only
Gold: Winterisation, plus a 50hr service
Gold +: Winterisation, plus a 100 hour service

PREVENTATIVE MEASURES

We recommend that the following preventative measures are taken:

• Engines are drained of water
• Antifreeze added into engine water system
• Engine internals protected with a ‘storage seal’
• Engine oil changed (serviced)
• Batteries charged and disconnected, unless in water as the Bilge pump will require power
• Fuel system treated with a fuel inhibitor
• Boat water systems, including the toilet are drained of water
• Covers are checked, repaired if necessary and securely fitted
• Heaters fitted in engine and in cabin areas
• Moisture absorbing crystals or a dehumidifier are left in cabin
• Trailer boats bung to be left out and outdrive in down position
• We do NOT recommend heaters only. If the power fails, damage will occur

By carrying out the above, you can prevent damage to your boat over the winter months. It also makes sense to service the engine at the end of the season as old oil has many potentially harmful contaminates. We have friendly, fully trained engineers who will be able to help you with all your boating requirements, and we also offer a fixed price maintenance price.
